Welcome to my new weekly goth/industrial music feature, SeeDarkly Sunday DisCOVERies!

If you missed the debut last week, with the obligatory introductory explanation of what this even is, click here to get up to speed. :)
Meanwhile, let's get right to this week's featured cover song...

Emika - Let's Dance
During the first season of NBC's The Blacklist (before I got bored with the series,) I took note of a fantastic cover they played of Chris Issak's Wicked Game, performed by an artist out of the UK named Emika. As I prepped this week's DisCOVERy, I had every intention of using that cover. Until I heard, through the wonder of YouTube algorithmic recommendations, her cover of David Bowie's Let's Dance, the title track of his 1983 album released on EMI!
This cover was released on an exclusive 10-track David Bowie tribute album, given as a promotional gift with the May 2014 issue of Rolling Stone Germany. On review of the whole album, hers could easily be the single best track on it!
Emika may not be a goth artist, in the absolute strictest sense. (Her latest album released this past Tuesday on her own label seems a departure from her darker sounds into more electro/trance styles.) However, both of her covers and most of her two albums on her previous label (Ninja Tune) crossover quite nicely into goth territory as dark alternative dance tracks with an elemental resemblance to witch house and trip-hop. For those that love that down-tempo side of the goth genre, I have a feeling that once you've heard this incredibly sexy take on Bowie's classic, you might just go looking for more of her music. I know I did!
