PLAGUE; April 4
I love Plague! Really I do! And the attendance just keeps getting better and better every time I go. I hope I can claim a little credit for that. I got there crazy early despite the rain (yet again with the RAIN!) and hung out for Chasm's opening set which I found quite enjoyable.
Then Gabriell and I traded off for the night so he kept me moving in between my sets. Too many mics in the booth led me to have to yell the final announcement of the night to the club.(Note to self... grab the one connected to the board! heh heh)
Here are my sets from the night.
set one
Assemblage 23 - Drive
New Order - True Faith
Single Gun Theory - A Million Miles
Falco - Push
Siouxie & the Banshees - Happy House
Blaqk Audio - Stiff Kittens (Assemblage 23 RMX)
set two
Colony 5 - Fate
Apoptygma Berzerk - Starsign
Skinny Puppy - Protest
Lady Sovereign - Love me or Hate Me
Nine Inch Nails - The Beginning of the End (Ladytron mix)
Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down
And One - Wet Spot
Oil 10 - Lost in Metropolis
Prodigy v. Lil' Mama - Spitgloss (Mixed by Xero)
fin - roll wagons roll
HAVEN; April 8
Down with Tempo night was fantastic! Early attendance was up from the last time I'd come to Haven and DJ's Addam Bomb and Znuh even arrived early for my set to encourage me (though honestly it's possible it made a me more nervous.) I got some good feedback and put together a solid opening set of music that got the few early attendees to the floor without resorting to any surefire hits that are better reserved for the later crowd. It gave me an opportunity to try out some great new tracks I'd found that I'd been sitting on until I had a Down-Tempo night to test them on. GZ danced to most of them, but didn't like the Max Sedgley as I'd hoped (but it still got good response over all.) Hostess Penelope and I talked about me returning for a few more opening slots, but we haven't scheduled anything yet.
Here's my set list.
Course of Empire - 59 Minutes
Loreena McKennit - Gates of Istanbul
Sarah Fimm - Nexus
Bush - Mouth
Sisters of Mercy - Valentine
Nine Inch Nails - The Wretched (r)
Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke - The Human Game
Max Sedgley - Slowly
Massive Attack - Protection
Shiny Toy Guns - Stripped
Puscifer - Rev 22-20
Machines Of Loving Grace - Golgotha Tenement Blues
Dead Can Dance - Threshold
Nouvelle Vague - This is Not a Love Song
fin
Looking forward to what's next... though I don't know what it is yet, I'm sure it'll be fun and educational! I'll post it when I know it!
