Recap: Haven 5.17.11

Since this was my only gig for May I feel it's fair to say this:
Quality over quantity.
I needed last night bad. So bad.
It was a lot of fun, very diverting from all the angst in my head, and so rewarding as DJ. I even got to include something new in each of my sets!
I was gratified to receive a lot of compliments.
High praise is tough for me though.
When anyone compliments me in terms like "awesome" or "epic" or any other grandiose adjectives, I tend to feel uncomfortable. I know I did well last night so I guess I should expect that a little.
I just don't like to think of myself in such terms. I don't have that kind of ego.
(Hell, I probably have an anti-ego if that's possible. Subdued ego, perhaps?)
The bottom line is that when people enjoy what I do, then I've done it well. That's what I strive for. It's a way to satisfy a socially awkward part of me that wants to give something to the party. Not for the praise, but to see the appreciation in action, on the dance floor. I guess, when I see you dancing to what I'm doing, I don't really need to be told more than what that tells me. :)

So last night? Quality.

That said, I'm excited that last night I was invited to spin Vigil in Boston with Dirge & Purple on July 20! There may be another date I'll spin in Boston soon but I'm waiting until I get confirmation before posting anything definitive. I should know about Haven dates for June pretty soon as well.
