Here is the updated list of events in the goth, industrial, and fetish dance-club scene of New England for May 2010.

Sorry it's a few days late.

New England Scene Darkly is a monthly look at our ever-changing scene with an active list of links so you can get more details on where you can go dancing in clubs or events that play music relative to our mutual interests.
New England Scene Darkly also has a calendar view to help you plan your schedules and it is constantly updated through the month.

Here's the News & known One-Shots...

* First point of news is a reminder that I am now including Facebook page links on the list below, and will soon add those to the calendar details as well. If I don't have an event's Facebook page (not RSVP Invite page) you can assume I've not found it yet. Promoters can let me know by commenting on this entry on my journal. I'm also formatting the links below as follows:
EVENT NAME = Website Link (or dead link until one exists), Myspace Link, Facebook Link.
I'll only use RSVP pages for one-shots and then only if there is absolutely no other source for info.

* Dark Intentions returns to Lowell at the Souper Bowl and is scheduled for the last Saturday monthly. Since their official website is under construction for now, it bears noting (for those who don't have Facebook) that they have returned to being an 18+ event. Their Facebook link is below, and their schedule is on the calendar.

* Ulteria's Hartford event officially closed but their New Haven event continues as scheduled. They have details at their site; link listed below.

* Night of the Dolls seasonal events in Boston have returned and their latest date is on the calendar.

* I think that's it for notable changes and additions. If I hear of any other events to include, they'll go directly on the calendar where I try to update the schedule as often as I'm aware of changes or additions.

Quick note: I'm trying to streamline the public forum posts and there is certain info about New England Scene Darkly and guidelines I use/follow when posting (like how the calendar works and what specific information I post) that I have cut from the bulk of the monthly update to place in the comment section of my main journal post.
Any questions or comments are best left for me (t)here since the public forum posts get buried and I may not check on them for comments after a few days have passed.


As always, this is an inclusive effort and not meant to knowingly exclude anyone in the NE goth and fetish scene, so if I've missed some vital info about something specific or if something major has changed about an existing event (like broken or more appropriate links,) please be kind enough to let us know about it (but keep in mind that I will not make changes based on anonymous or unverifiable information.)

How the Calendar Works:

The calendar is posted at www.SeeDarkly.com (http://home.comcast.net/~seedarkly/index.htm)

In its default "Agenda" view, the calendar shows the date, name, venue, city and state of the events.
Click the "Month" or "Week" tabs to change the view.
Clicking on the event shows you both the physical and web addresses for the event.
Clicking "more details" will activate the links.
Some events are regular and recur based on a set schedule.
Some do not, so may not be listed past a specific date until future dates are announced.

Promoters: Please do not expect me to include these details:

*Cover or Age Restrictions
*Concerts or Performances
*DJs, VJs, Lights or Sound, etc...
*"Special" Event Titles, Shows, or Promotions for an existing "brand."
i.e. If "Perdition" (made up night) is holding a special "Seventh Circle of Hell" night, I won't be making changes to their listing or including that amount of detail; that sort of thing should be promoted on Perdition's website, which would be linked here for that very convenience.
(Also, if an event is a regularly occurring night, I will not remove it during those instances that it has any bands performing on a specific date of their schedule, I leave that again to the sites I link here to promote.)

I'm happy to make changes, corrections and additions.

NOTE:New England Scene Darkly is meant as an "informational" source for dance events, not a "promotional effort." In other words, this is a means to keep people informed about what nights are available on the scene and let them know if there is something new or canceled, not really to "promote" for each night, because again, I can not do that fairly (or without bias honestly) for them all within this format. I try to post all events here in the same manner, even if I'm personally involved with one. If I am personally involved with an event, I post additional details separately from New England Scene Darkly.

Personal Note: This is something I do with my personal time and for free. While I welcome suggestions, the bottom line is that I've chosen specific methods to ensure I can do equally the same thing for every event I post. I hope that it is appreciated, but one can not expect to satisfy everyone all the time, and I encourage others to pursue their own methods if mine are not to their satisfaction.
After all, I am not "the" source for this info... just "a" source.
