Well, I've been learning a lot about my craft lately and I'm grateful to be learning from some of the N.E. scene's prominent talent (much gratitude and love to Addam Bombb, Mothra, and Znuh who have been giving me said schooling!)
It's been a heady experience.
On the one hand, I'm given the impression that I'm a lot further along than my self-deprecating mind-set will acknowledge. On the other, what I've learned has loosened me up, increased my sensitivity to the dance floor, and created connections between a number of elements and skills I've had that are leading to what I consider a significant personal improvement.
Last night, I used the first hour of Haven's Black Heart's Ball to experiment with building a story with my song selection in order to compliment the theme of the night, rather than focus strictly on beat-matching. I think it went pretty damn well!
So now I'm really looking forward to Friday, February 22, when I get to spin along side DJ DeHuman8 yet again for another of our astounding tag-team sessions at Plague in Portland, ME! And I say "astounding" because I, personally, am "ASTOUNDED" by the remarkable chemistry he and I share when we work together!
Also, though it's not scheduled yet, I'm looking forward to spending more time out at Haven and am thrilled and grateful for the opportunities they've been giving me.
In the meantime, my playlists from Stage One on January 29 and from last night at Haven from 9-10 under these cuts...
( Stage One - 1/29/08 )
( Haven's Black Hearts Ball - 2/12/08 )
